NLDS: Hamels pitches a Gem and The Cubs struggle
The NLDS started today. The Philadelphia Phillies took on the Milwaukee Brewers for the first game of their series. Cole Hamels was on the mound for the Phillies and pitched a gem. He went 8 innings only gave up 2 hits and struckout 9 batters in the win over the Brewers.
Some big bats for the Brewers did not step up in this game. Mike Cameron went 0-3, Prince Fielder went 0-4, and Ryan Braun had 1 hit for a double. These batters are going to have to step up in the next game if they want to steal a win in Philadelphia.
Final score Phillies 3 Brewers 1
In the second NLDS the Chicago Cubs took on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cubs would jump on the board first a Mark Derosa homerun in the 2nd inning. The Cubs though would don’t be able to hold on to the lead, because Ryan Dempster gave up a grand slam in the 5th inning to James Loney.
The Dodgers wouldn’t stop there. In the 7th inning Manny Ramierz would hit a solo home run. Derek Lowe would pitch a decent game. He went 6 innings only gave up 2 runs with 6 strikeouts. The Dodgers would steal the first game from the Cubs.
Final score Dodgers 7 Cubs 2

Dempster was beyond awful tonight. I’d guess CC Sabathia’ll be every bit as dominant as Hamels was in game 2.
