EliteXC No More!

Published by bertman at 1:25 am under MMA Edit This

After Kimbo Slice lost to Seth Petruzelli on October 4th EliteXC will be no more. The organization does not have enough money to keep the business going.

The large fan base that Kimbo brought to the company has withered back to YouTube and his street fights. The company would have been better off postponing the heavyweight fight until the next show or getting to other heavyweight to fight. They made Kimbo their whole organization and to have him lose sunk the whole thing. This couldn’t be better news for UFC who has had to deal with EliteXC trying to take their spot light.

Now UFC can get on with the show without any distractions. I was reading another sports blog here on today.com and the blogger had a good point about something EliteXC had that UFC doesn’t. http://sports2000.today.com/2008/10/21/elite-xc-folds/

You can read the post here, but pretty much what UFC doesn’t have that EliteXC had is a women division. I think that it would be a great idea for UFC to bring a womens division into their organization. It would boost the fan base even more and even get more women involved with the sport.

Either way this is good news for UFC. Maybe they’ll consider a women’s division and expand their sport to a different audience. It could be good for the fans and for the sport.
