A.I. Goes To Detroit

Published by bertman at 12:35 pm under NBA Edit This

Only a week into the 2008-09 NBA season and we already have big names moving to new cities.

The Detroit Pistons, who lost last year in the Eastern Conference Finals has made a move that they think will help them get over that hump and into the NBA Finals once again. They made a trade with the Denver Nuggets which sent Allen Iverson to Detroit for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess.

The Nuggets get two experienced players in Billups and McDyess. Billups should fit in the point guard spot better than Iverson. McDyess will give the Nuggets some defensive help and they will also get some defensive help from Billups as well. This will be like a homecoming for Billups and McDyess who both have played in Denver before.

The Pistons get a scorer. Even though Allen Iverson’s numbers were down last season he is the 3rd highest scorer in NBA history. Along with that he has most points scored by any other active player. Though his defense isn’t all that great he will make it up with his scoring.

I think that both teams benefit from this trade. The Pistons have a good team and to add a person like A.I. who can put points up will help that team even more. As for the Nuggets they get some defensive help and a point guard that can distribute the ball around.

The season is young and will will have to follow these two teams to see who benefits the most from this trade.
