What should the Lions do?

Published by bertman at 6:50 pm under NFL Edit This

The Detroit Lions have the number one over all pick in this year’s draft. In need of a desperate rebuilding process their first concern is a quarterback. With Matt Strafford projected as the first pick it would seem that he will go to the Lions, but is that the best choice or should they have dealt the first round pick.

My first answer would be nobody wants to give up the first pick in the draft unless the price is right.

If I were the Lions I would have thought long and hard on trading the first pick to the Patriots for Matt Cassel. Instead the Chief got him and now the best quarterback that could have gotten picked up by the Lions is no longer available. But I can see why you don’t want to give the Patriots a first round pick, their good enough without it. Why make them better?

They could always trade the first pick for a player of decent value and a top 10 pick in the draft. This way you can still get one of the top quarterbacks and a player that you can add to the rebuilding process of the team.

But we all know the Lions don’t make very good decisions so they will probably keep the first round draft pick and pick up Matt Strafford and use they rest of their picks on no names that won’t help them at all.

Maybe not though, this could be the year they actually get something right. We’ll just have to wait and see.
